DONALD TRUMP ADMINISTRATION`S MIDDLE EAST POLICY:

CONFRONTATION WITH IRAN (2017-2020)

Abstract. The article covers the Middle East vector of the policy of the 45th President of the United States Donald Trump and describes the principles of the foreign policy of the United States of America towards the Islamic Republic of Iran. The paper describes the goals and objectives of the United States in relation to IRI, in accordance with the National Security Strategy. The article emphasizes the change in Donald Trump's approach to relations with Iran, compared to his predecessor - Barack Obama. The paper highlights the main provisions of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action - the nuclear agreement of the United States, China, Russia, France, Great Britain and Germany with Iran. Donald Trump's decision to leave the nuclear deal with IRI is analyzed. The key events of US-Iranian relations are identified, as well as their significance for the Middle East and the world. Factors that influenced US policy towards Iran have been identified. The article considers the conditions set by the United States of Iran, the implementation of which is necessary for the normalization of relations between states. The article emphasizes the US economic sanctions against IRI. The US military security policy in the Middle East is reflected. The paper analyzes the aggravation of relations between the states as a result of the destruction of oil tankers in the Persian Gulf and the downing of the American unmanned reconnaissance apparatus. The United States blamed Iran for both incidents. The role of the Iranian organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in US-Iranian relations, which was recognized by the United States as a terrorist organization, has been determined. The paper analyzes the significance of the activities of the IRGC leader Kasem Sulimani for Iran, which was killed by the US military.
