A REPORT ON THE ADVENTURE TRAVEL AS A SOURCE ON THE HISTORY OF TOURISM IN UKRAINE

(ON THE BASE OF THE ONLINE LIBRARY OF THE KYIV TOUR CLUB "GLOBUS")

The article aims to characterize a report on the adventure travel as a source on history of tourism. For this, the author uses general scientific and historical methods, particularly historiographical and source studies methods. The article provides basic information on the peculiarities of adventure tourism in Ukraine as a type of sport, which includes adventure travel competitions and distance competitions, the purpose of which is to overcome natural obstacles. At the same time, reports on adventure travel serve as a basis for recording travels, holding competitions, and also help to prepare for new trips. The author reviews the electronic library of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” “Globus” tour club, which contains 303 technical reports on adventure travels. They cover fragmentarily the period from 1956 to 1993, and in detail the development of adventure tourism in Kyiv in the 2000s. As for the characteristics of the reports on the adventure travel as a historical source, it was found that the information contained in them is of interest to adventure tourists, researchers in the field of physical education, sports and extreme medicine, geographers and historians of tourism. Reports from the electronic library of the NTUU "KPI" "Globus" tour club do not reflect complete statistics of Kyiv tourists' adventure travels, but they allow following certain trends at the level of the individual club and studying its life in dynamics. Based on them, it is possible to study the peculiarities of the organization and planning of travels, the development of tourist tactics and techniques, the history of tourist equipment and clothing, the process of introducing technical innovations in adventure tourism, the history of Ukrainian outdoor cooking and medicine, as well as the economy of leisure. The photos contained in the reports complement the text and contribute to its visualization.
