IVAN ANTONOVYCH HRYTSENKO (1920–2007) – RENOWNED GRADUATE OF SHEVCHENKO UNIVERSITY


A set of documents and materials relating to the history of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is important for researchers. Of particular value are the memoirs of a man who studied at the Faculty of History (1937-1942) and at the Postgraduate Course (1946-1949) of Taras Shevchenko National University, defended his doctoral thesis there (1950) and his dissertation (1981). The author is Professor Ivan AntonovychHrytsenko, Doctor of Historical Sciences.

The article highlights the most important milestones in his life. With great gratitude and trepidation I. Hrytsenko recalled his student days, fellow students and teachers. In particular, he described the premises of the Red Building, the educational process at the university, the life and lifestyle of students, scientific interests, cultural and sports preferences, etc.

The influence of teachers, students, postgraduates and Shevchenko University in general on the formation of I. Hrytsenko's scientific and ideological orientations is revealed. 

Special attention is paid to the scientific achievements of Professor I. A. Hrytsenko, Doctor of History. The scientist has done a lot in the field of in-depth research of sources. The article also deals with his manifold pedagogical and public activities.
